Constant process humidity,
protected facilities

In production and industry, humid air is a silent cost factor: it attacks machinery, disrupts processes, and reduces product quality. DÖLCO provides stationary dehumidification systems Made in Freiburg that keep the hall climate permanently within a defined range – demand-controlled via dew point regulation and remotely monitored at all times.

The problem

When humidity becomes a cost factor

Wherever production, storage, and assembly take place, air humidity often determines rejects, downtime, and maintenance costs, frequently unnoticed.

Corrosion on machines & storage
Bare metal surfaces rust as soon as the relative humidity stays above approximately 50–60% for an extended period – affecting machining centers, tools, spare parts warehouses, and electrical systems.
Condensation on cold parts
When warm, humid hall air meets cooler tools, molds, or fresh goods, condensation occurs: water stains, dimensional issues, and adhesion defects during coating.
Product quality suffers
Hygroscopic materials – powders, granules, salts – absorb moisture, clump together, and lose their flowability. Adhesives and paints cure incorrectly, and process windows shift.
Condensation in halls
In warehouses and technical rooms, moisture condenses on ceilings, walls, and pipes – dripping water over equipment, mold, odors, and corrosion on fittings and electrical components.

The solution

Hall climate where the process needs it

DÖLCO systems maintain the hall climate reliably, energy-consciously, and with documented traceability at the required level.

Constant process humidity,
Constant process humidity
A stably regulated humidity level makes process results reproducible and reduces rejects – across shifts, seasons, and locations.
Corrosion & quality protection
If humidity is kept permanently below the critical threshold, corrosion practically comes to a standstill – machines, tools, storage, and products are protected.
ITR – demand-controlled
The control system measures continuously and only switches the units on when necessary. An ITR device coordinates multiple dehumidifiers – saving energy, operating time, and wear.
Remote monitoring with KISS
Air humidity, dew point, and system status in real-time – across locations, with automatic documentation and alerting before deviations become damage.

Expertise

Humidity, corrosion & dew point

Relative humidity indicates how close the air is to its saturation point. For corrosion protection, the rule is: below approximately 50% relative humidity, electrochemical corrosion on bare steel proceeds only very slowly. Maintaining this level constantly protects facilities more effectively and cheaply than subsequent preservation – while simultaneously stabilizing hygroscopic processes.

The dew point is the temperature at which air begins to condense at a given moisture content. The ratio of component temperature to dew point is decisive: if the surface of a tool or product drops below this, water condenses. At 22 °C and 70% RH, the dew point is already around 16 °C – any cooler surface will fog up. Dehumidification safely lowers the air's dew point below all relevant surface temperatures.

Sensible target values depend on the application: corrosion protection usually operates around 40–50% RH, while powder- and coating-sensitive processes or low dew points are significantly lower. Condensation dryers are efficient at normal hall temperatures; if very low dew points are required or drying must occur in cold conditions, adsorption dryers have the advantage. Which method and capacity are optimal depends on hall size, loads, and target humidity – the design is project-specific.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What air humidity is sensible in production?
That depends on the process. For pure corrosion protection on metal, a level around 40–50% RH is usually sufficient; powder, coating, or low-dew-point applications are often lower. DÖLCO will determine the target value together with you.
How does dehumidification prevent corrosion?
Corrosion on bare steel starts noticeably above approximately 50–60% relative humidity and comes to a near standstill below that. A stationary system keeps the humidity constantly below this limit – without preservation or special packaging.
Why does water condense on cold tools?
Because their surface temperature is below the dew point of the hall air. If you lower the air's dew point below all relevant surface temperatures, condensation will no longer form.
Condensation or adsorption dryer?
At normal hall temperatures and moderate target humidity, condensation technology works efficiently. At low temperatures or very low dew points, adsorption technology is superior – DÖLCO offers both and selects based on the project.
How do I save energy without risk?
Via the ITR dew point control: It only switches on dehumidifiers when the humidity requires it, coordinates multiple units, and safely maintains the setpoint – with reduced operating time. With KISS, the effect remains transparent.
