Indoor climate under control,
building structure protected

Moisture is constantly evaporating from every water surface – in indoor pools, wellness areas, and therapy pools, this becomes a permanent burden for the building structure, technical equipment, and comfort. DÖLCO keeps the indoor climate safely in the optimal range with regulated, stationary dehumidification systems.

The problem

Evaporation becomes a building risk

Large quantities of water evaporate continuously over the warm water surface. If the relative humidity rises uncontrollably, water vapor condenses wherever surfaces are cooler than the dew point – insidiously and with expensive consequences.

Condensation on ceilings & structures
As soon as a component surface falls below the dew point of the humid indoor air, it fogs up and drips. Particularly affected: window frames, thermal bridges, cold corners, and the roof structure.
Corrosion on steel & technology
Constant moisture attacks structures, fastenings, ventilation ducts, and building services – accelerated by the chlorine and salt-containing room air in pool operations.
Structural damage & mold
Penetrating moisture soaks insulation, plaster, and wooden structures. Where surfaces remain permanently damp, mold forms – leading to structural damage and renovation costs.
Poor comfort
Air that is too humid and sultry feels oppressive, fogs up viewing surfaces, and promotes musty odors. Guests and staff perceive the room climate as unpleasant.

The solution

Regulate moisture before it condenses

Stationary dehumidification systems reliably remove excess moisture from water evaporation from the air and keep the climate stable year-round – designed for continuous operation and the demanding pool environment.

Indoor climate under control,
Regulated dehumidification
The system continuously measures humidity and dehumidifies as needed – the indoor air remains constantly in the target range, no overshooting, no condensation.
Protection of the building structure
Component surfaces remain above the dew point and thus dry – the foundation for corrosion, mold, and structural damage is removed.
Energy efficiency with ITR
The DÖLCO ITR dew point control only switches the dehumidification on when it is needed – with up to four sensors and separate summer/winter setpoints.
Noticeable comfort
Dry, pleasant indoor air without sultriness, clear viewing surfaces and windows, no musty odors – a room climate for well-being.

Expertise

Indoor climate & dew point

The standard operating condition in an indoor pool is an air temperature about 2–3 °C above the water temperature at around 50–65% relative humidity. If the air becomes colder than the water, evaporation and thus the moisture load increase; if it becomes too warm, comfort suffers. Dehumidification keeps the relative humidity within this window – high enough for a pleasant skin sensation, low enough to safely avoid condensation.

Condensation always forms when a surface is colder than the dew point of the room air. At 30 °C hall temperature and 60% RH, the dew point is around 21 °C – every surface below this temperature will fog up. The task of dehumidification is to permanently push the dew point of the indoor air below the temperature of all relevant component surfaces. The dew point monitors of the DÖLCO ITR control system monitor critical surfaces directly.

Private and public pools have different requirements: A private wellness or hotel pool often runs in partial load operation and requires a compact, quiet solution; public indoor pools run in continuous operation with high, fluctuating loads. In both cases, the system must match the pool size, water surface, temperature, cover, and hall volume. Correct sizing is therefore not an off-the-shelf product – DÖLCO dimensions projects individually.

Products

Stationary DÖLCO systems

Permanently installed, designed for continuous operation, and regulated via the ITR dew point control:

K-Series (console units)
For private pools, wellness areas, hotel and small to medium-sized indoor pools – from compact wall units (K 3000, 44 l/24 h) to K 25000 (240 l/24 h). Wall mounting saves floor space.
T-Series (large-scale systems)
For large public pools and high continuous moisture loads: high air performance and capacity (up to 2,000 l/24 h, 16,000 m³/h) ensure a stable climate even under peak loads.
ITR with dew point monitors
Monitors humidity, temperature, and critical surfaces, allows separate summer/winter setpoints, and controls based on demand – the foundation for energy efficiency and corrosion protection.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does condensation form in an indoor pool?
Moisture is constantly evaporating above the water surface and enriching the indoor air. If this meets a surface colder than its dew point – windows, cold corners, thermal bridges – condensation forms. Regulated dehumidification keeps the humidity low enough that this point is not reached.
What is the ideal humidity?
The guideline is around 50–65% relative humidity at an air temperature slightly above the water temperature. In this range, the climate is comfortable, evaporation is dampened, and condensation is safely avoided. The exact setpoint depends on construction and usage.
Is ventilation enough to combat moisture?
Usually not. Ventilating with cold outside air only removes the moisture load to a limited extent and is energetically expensive. Active dehumidification specifically removes water from the air and keeps the setpoint constant – regardless of the outside weather.
Does dehumidification protect the building structure?
Yes. By keeping the humidity below the critical threshold, component surfaces remain above the dew point and dry. This removes the foundation for corrosion, soaking of insulation, and mold – the most expensive consequential damages in an indoor pool.
Private or public pool – what is the difference?
Private pools often get by with compact wall units of the K-series. Public pools have continuous operation and higher loads and require more powerful systems, often from the T-series. In both cases, the design is project-specific based on the pool and hall volume.
